ABOUT US:

This is the driving force behind the working of this club or society at DRIEMS. Besides making a serious Endeavour to spread knowledge on Robotics and its diverse applications, Electronics and Embedded Systems, where the TEAM stands true to its meaning-"Together Everyone Achieves More". It is this exemplary virtue ,that has bound the club and helped it to grow to its present potential. The two and half year old society has created a sensation and is proud to be the first of its kind among all the regional engineering colleges of ORISSA. Having been established in November 2007, the society today is an active platform for students to display and develop their practical machine building skills and practical knowledge in Electronics.

"Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail." It is the firm belief of the club that a planning and predefined risk management are the requisites for the smooth functioning of any organization.

Well defined goals, Organized Work Structure, Highly Motivated Members and the ability to shrewdly harness the skill and creativity of the work force are the clubs' distinguished FORTE, that have contributed to its achievements.

The society has marked its presence in Technical fests like KSHITIJ, KRITANSH, TECHNOZION, TECHNICHE, SAMAVESH, SANKALP, RENAISSANCE,UDAYAN etc with an exorbitant response and prize winning achievements. It's only and only due to the members of the Society....

The primary objective is to foster the scientific temper among its members and collectively achieve success in their long stride ahead....

MOTIVATION BEHIND FORMING THE CLUB:

Our main motivation is to understand the concepts, the underlying beauty of our subjects and to create a knowledge base that is not limited by the boundaries of syllabus or examination and also to develop a network of contacts that is at once both formidable in its reach and range of interests .

OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY

HERE IS A DETAILED NOTE OF THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY AND THE NEED FOR SUCH A SOCIETY.

Robotics, or if we go to a superset of it - Mechatronics is a field that is at the intersection of varied engineering disciplines – Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Electronics as well as Computer Science to name a few. One will learn skills ranging from electronics, mechanics, controls, programming, and even as broad as understanding animal behavior and human psychology. It will be very interesting and exciting for the us, the students, to experiment at this intersection on a technical, applied and design level. So by setting up the SOCIETY we get a chance to apply the knowledge we gain in the classroom through various lectures, in real-world scenarios. In brief, it is an opportunity to apply knowledge creatively, to see how systems interact, both with each other and with the environment. So the aim in starting the Robotics SOCIETY is to inculcate within ourselves the habit of ‘thinking technologically’.

The eventual aim of the SOCIETY will be to lift up that spirit of engineering within every one of us. The whole essence of engineering lies in the spirit of innovation, the spirit of designing systems on our own. This process of working on our own gives a lot of satisfaction. So, we request all of you to be a part of the SOCIETY and let us together reload within us that spirit of innovation which has been lying untapped for many years.

The robotics SOCIETY is a place where we will make robots together and discuss about them. These robots may be quite simple (eg. A pick and place mechanism) or quite complex (eg. a biped robot) and manually or autonomously operated (most tasks can be accomplished using both manually and autonomously operated robots). The SOCIETY provides workspace, tools, intellectually stimulating conditions and people to help you out if you have any problems.
